Life lessons and realizations...

Updated: Feb 17, 2019

Clearly, I don't know any great secrets of the universe nor have I figured out a way to navigate through life without hitting bumps or obstacles...I get sad, depressed, overwhelmed, disappointed, feel like a failure at times, etc. Feelings we all have had at some point. I'm still evolving and trying to figure things out.

What I believe is we are meant to make mistakes and have those mistake hurt, without them we would not truly learn any lesson of any value. The more the lesson hurts, the more we learn from it.

When you experience loss, you learn a new appreciation for what you do have.

Try to make amends for any hurt you may have caused, whether intentional or not. Being sorry or wishing it didn't happen doesn't make it go away. Own your mistakes, apologize, and make restitution in one way or another.

Forgive. Forgive others that have hurt you. The anger or pain is your burden you carry around, set it down and move on.

Forgive yourself. Do not wallow in self pity for your errors. If you hang on to guilt then you haven't really learned anything and therefore cannot progress as a person.

Let it go. You only have control over your actions and thoughts. You cannot control others.

YOU control your mind, your mind does not control you.

Past events shouldn't hold you back, but should be used as a tool to help propel you to a better more evolved you.

I say this one often...You have to act the part to get the part. Essentially, if there is a goal you want to achieve or something about yourself you would like to change or improve, then take action and emulate it until it become an organic part of you.

Mean what you say and say what you feel. Don't say something just to appease others.

Don't be cryptic. Just say whatever needs to be said plainly and directly.

Speak from your heart, even if it sounds "cheesy", "corny", etc. Sometimes people question my motivation...but I assure you, I speak from my heart. Not every person has ulterior motives.

Be cautiously optimistic. It's a balance between blind trust and being skeptical. Work to find the balance.

Love unconditionally. It's the greatest gift you can give to yourself and more importantly others.

Listen. Truly listen, to your kids, your spouse, your friends, your co-workers, a stranger. You'll be amazed how much you will gain from those moments.

Stop and absorb the miracles and beauty all around. It's easy to get so self absorbed that you end up missing all the wonderful things around you.

The most important things in life are not all the achievements or possession you have gained, but the human connections and relationships you have developed and cared for along the way.

Give thanks. Never stop learning, growing and evolving!

God bless...

A spiritual thought...

I can't even begin to tell you how much I'm looking forward to going home today (yes, I worked on Saturday). I'm exhausted emotionally...
